WHITE MOUNTAIN COACHING AND PHILOSOPHY The White Mountain coaching staff help field hockey players to become better athletes. To become an excellent athlete requires time, hard work, and top-level coaching. For more than 25 years, White Mountain Sports has provided program participants the opportunity to become better athletes, field hockey players, and coaches. White Mountain field hockey camps strive to benefit participants in the following areas:
At White Mountain Sports, coaching field hockey is our business. The coaches employed by White Mountain Sports are some of the top collegiate, national team, and high school coaches. Some WMS staff include college field hockey Division I players and current Division I coaches. All staff members have excellent knowledge of how to coach field hockey at both the high school and collegiate level. Our staff members are dedicated to coaching field hockey. The coaches bring their knowledge of coaching youth field hockey to the girl's summer camps offered annually by White Mountain Sports. Their style of coaching and philosophy of learning complement their practical knowledge of what it takes to play well and to be winners. The following is a list of our coaches and their titles. White Mountain Camp Staff - Experienced in Coaching Youth Field Hockey and Top-Level Players All White Mountain Sports field hockey programs offer a broad range of coaching excellence, bringing together top collegiate and high school coaching talent. Our staff is made up of experienced field hockey players and coaches who know how to coach field hockey. The WMS Head coaching staff includes Head and Assistant coaches from Divisions I, II, and III NCAA institutions, as well as other recognized top level coaches. The Assistant Coaching Staff consists of current Division 1, II, and III collegiate players, all familiar with general concepts of playing and coaching field hockey. Certified athletic trainers staff our camps, with a local physician on call. White Mountain Sports Field Hockey supervisory staff are background checked as determined by the Massachusetts Criminal History Board. WMS Staff Members get to do what they enjoy - coach field hockey. Ours style of coaching and philosophy of learning come from years of experience at all levels. Pam Hixon, Director Pam Hixon knows success! As the owner of WMS Enterprises Inc., Hixon has been operating White Mountain Sports programs for more than 25 years, providing a quality field hockey camp experience for both individuals and teams.
As both an International and NCAA Division I Coach, Pam's records speak for themselves. From 1994 - 1998, Hixon was the Head Coach of the U.S. Women's National and Olympic Teams, taking them from a world ranking of 11th in 1993 to consistent performances within the "Top 8" in the world for four consecutive years. The U.S. Women's Field Hockey Program has not enjoyed more consistent international success since the 1980 -1984 Quadrennium.Pam was named 1996 USOC/USFHA "Elite Coach of the Year" for her outstanding international coaching achievements. In 2003, Hixon was appointed to the USA Field Hockey Board of Directors. In this capacity, Pam and the USA Field Hockey BOD oversee the women's and men's US National and US National Teams, their programs and development, as well as other aspects of USA Field Hockey.
A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Pam received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Springfield College where she was a four-year starter and graduate assistant coach. Hixon also competed for the US National Team and Squad for 10 years (1969-1979). Ainslee Lamb, WMS Associate Director - Head Coach, Boston College Email Ainslee Ainslee Lamb is currently in her fourth season as a Head Field Hockey Coach at Boston College.
Heather Lewis, WMS Associate Director - Head Coach, Bucknell University Email Heather Heather Lewis begins her 13th year with White Mountain Sports, and serves as WMS Associate Director. Lewis is the Head Field Hockey Coach at Bucknell University where she is presently in her 12th season.
In her career at Bucknell, Lewis has coached one national Academic All-American, seven Regional All-Americans, and 14 All-Patriot League selections. Thirty-eight of Bucknell's field hockey student-athletes have been selected to the NFHCA All-Academic squad and 15 players have been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.Lewis’ arrival at Bucknell came at the end of a very diverse coaching journey. As a fifth-year senior at the University of Maryland, Lewis was coaching the varsity and junior varsity field hockey team at Springbrook High School in Maryland. After three successful seasons, Lewis moved on to coach field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. After two years at Deerfield, Lewis embarked on a coaching career at the intercollegiate level. From the spring on 1991 through the spring of 1992 Lewis was the assistant field hockey coach at the University of Massachusetts prior to her appointment to the Bucknell University Athletic Department. A native of Pittsburgh, Lewis attended the University of Maryland, where she collected Regional All-American and All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors in field hockey. She was an All-ACC Academic selection three years. As a member of the 1986 National Championship Lacrosse Team, Lewis was recognized for her defensive play with Regional All-American honors. Patty Shea, WMS Assistant Director Email Patty One of the most decorated players in the University of Massachusetts field hockey history. AS the former UMASS Head Coach, Shea directed the team to three Atlantic 10 Championships titles and four NCAA Tourney appearances. In 2007 Patty was inducted into the UMASS Athletic Hall of FAME. In her playing
career, Shea was the starting goalkeeper at UMASS from 1980 – 1983. She earned first team All-America honors her junior and senior years, and led her teams to two "Final Four" appearances. Over her college career, Patty posted 54 shutouts and a 0.617 goals against average. After graduating in 1984 with a degree in Physical Education, Shea served as an Assistant coach at UMASS in 1985, with three subsequent years as an Assistant Coach at Harvard. Patty then worked as the Assistant Coach at the University of Iowa from 1989-95.As a HIGH PERFORMANCE ATHLETE (GK), Shea was a member of the 1988 and 1996 Olympic Teams; 1988, 1994 World Cup Teams, and 1987, 1994 Pan Am Teams, and was selected World Hockey Magazine’s "All World Team GK" in 1996. |
